I'm back once again. (If anyone even READS this thing -_-) I've been busy getting myself all established in my new place, haven't really had the inkling to post until now.

Well, we all know about Final Fantasy 14 online being announced, I'm excited to start a new game, but that means finishing ffxi. (At least story wise)

Anyway, lately, while waiting for my lazy buns boyfriend to get his butt leveled enough for us to start doing story lines, I've taken to all things Chocobo.

Above is a picture of my current pride and joy GreenOlive, my digger, and the chocobo that makes me all my gil. I have two being raised simultaneously, one being a Male Green and the other being a Male Blue. (About time I got some males!) They should be reaching adulthood by next week sometime, and I'm excited. The Blue named LordZippy, is going to be my uber racer. I've been doing chocobo races on my current red one (ok stats but not a champion by any means.) to get the tokens needed to max out his stats in the end.

The other day, I was also excited to dig up my first ever Elemental Ore doing my normal route in Chocobo Digging! :) Other than that, GreenOlive has been making my the big gils with Coral Fragments and various ores in the Deserts.
I've been giving a lot of the Iron Ingots to the boy to help level his Alchemy for his Corsair Bullets, but even after that I'm making a mint. I came back and made more money than I left with lol. -_-

As far as leveling goes, I've got Red Mage to 58, it's my new Job of the Month hehe. I really am enjoying it, and I look forward to some of the solo freedom it will give me when I get it to 75. (Going to do a prime Avatar run around!!!!)

Ciao!

Mule goodness

So I've been working on my "mule" (tempted to turn her into my main character but I've put way too much work into Kelvena) the past few days I have gotten her Aht Urgahn Access, a Mog Locker through getting one of the Staging Points. A level 12 running through an area packed with level 80+ mobs was rather scary but I've done it before on Kelvena (got her all her a lot of stuff at very early levels, including unlocking Corsair at level 30 alone).

She has an anniversary ring left over from last year that I've been meaning to burn (I like the idea of having a mule that can Choco around and such.) so I've been working on that slowly. That way she can grab another one (I hope) from the Moogle for this year. :)

Meanwhile, on Kelvena, I've been slowly solo leveling (with a Trio/party between my boyfriend and Chup+ friends sometimes) White Mage and Red Mage when I get bored here at home. Lately, I've been busy getting settled here at home, and the spring weather always makes me want to go out more than sit at home. (Incidentally, I always Quit WoW around this time of year...oO)

My purpose for my New York trip went well too, which makes me happy.

Flashback time

I spent the better part of today and yesterday re-viewing a lot of the missions I had done thus far in WoTG. (today is ToAU watching day hehe) It's been a fair amount of time and I feel to grasp what the hell is going on right now, I need to watch some things over hehe. Incidentally, I took screens of said cut scenes, since I got lazy and didn't the first time. :) So far, design wise, I think I like Lilisette's design and attitude the most. They did a really nice job on her design and the new cut scenes are more vibrant and well animated than the older ones. :) And Caith Sith is freaking creepy lol. I love it! (picture of him being held by his ears down below. :P )

Also, I'm working on getting Dancer to 37 for sub job purposes. It's at 32 and already I'm taking it into Campaign as Sam/Dnc for survivability. And I must say, it is much easier to stay alive, since I always pull hate anyway. Also getting a lot more xp for my efforts since I can solo certain mobs. (if they are mages, nuh uh....they are mean.)

I believe I'm doing a Dynamis Sandy tonight my new shell, should be interesting. However, not sure how I'm going to manage to stay up that late (they do their events in the uber late hours of the night.) since I have asshat neighbors who think hammering at 8am is ok. 4 hours of sleep makes for a cranky Kelvena. ><

I'm still trying to re-establish myself again. Takes some adjusting but for the most part, it's familiar and I feel back at home again. My goals this time are:
1. Don't overplay. It takes the fun out of the game.
2. Don't overcraft. Esp. on expensive ones like Goldsmithing. It's depressing tossing the gil out the window.
3. Don't fall into a horribly boring routine ingame like last time.
4. Don't become a doormat for lazy asses who always want a power leveler. *nods*

Pretty simple goals. :P

On Saturday I get to go away for almost a week, will be nice to go on a mini vacation and get out with the boy. Just hope the actual purpose of my trip goes well. :P

Back again!

Back into the game after another few months off. I decided that, FFXI is indeed, time consuming, however, it's not "Soul Sucking" like WoW is. I can at least log on when I feel the need, play for a bit, be happy, and log off. WoW....is addictive, not sure exactly why it is so addictive, as it's pretty monotonous.

I was raiding 6 nights a week for the last few weeks, and I finally hit my burn out this week. I am flying out of town for a very important interview in New York City, so I purposely did not schedule myself for any raids this week. It was a great week....I got to spend actual time with my boyfriend (who plays too, but it's not the same as actually spending time TOGETHER, and not with 23 other people who we may or may not like depending.) I got to poke around in FFXI, and realize that I really did miss it....
My boyfriend and I came to the same conclusion, especially after reading an old livejournal entry pertaining to WoW way back when we first started dating, and it's the same as it was then. The game is getting in the way, and it's no longer becoming a fun past-time, it's like a job and where is the fun in that? You get to 80 and there's only two options, raid or pvp. Raiding requires time and 24 other people of the proper gear and makeup to do right.... And of course there's always the asshats who completely ruin the fun. Ulduar is really pretty (for Blizzard at least...Square wins on coolness factor still), and it's very challenging, but there's really nothing other than getting gear and replacing the gear a week later with something else.....I ask myself what's the point?

Friends? No, WoW friendships are fleeting and well, they aren't friendships at all really. (minus like...the odd one here and there, but it's very rare.) No one seems to legitimately care about the other person. Most people either don't converse at all, are thick and say "ah" to everything until you get frustrated and shut up, or just stop talking altogether halfway through. In my WoW career I think I have like..2-3 people I still keep in touch with, and 1 I hardly ever talk to.

I came back to FFXI and had 3 tells within the first hour of being on from people I didn't think remembered me saying "Welcome Back!". It was nice to be remembered. My old friend Chupa is still around, it's good to be back among some friendly faces! :D His Linkshell memebers are also quite nice as well, I enjoy their antics. (And they let me tag along to their Dynamis's even when I said I wasn't sure about endgame and just wanted to try it out to see.)

For now, I have a lot on my plate, and if this NYC thing goes well, it will be a very busy time for me, so I will be playing casually. I need to get away from WoW, spend some time with my love, and work on getting my life all back on track. :)

Revenge of the Butter!

So, with the extended Maint. on WoW, I decided to fish a bit in FFXI today. Hit the cap I think...o_o (for the day haha)

After that, I hopped on to my chocodigging mule and came out with a nice haul of ores from my new choco digging spot. Will need to break them down into ingots later, but I'm too lazy to right now.

Soooo, then I decide I want to try to make a bazzar, to actually start what I was planning originally before I left for almost 6 months. I then thought of my cooking mule. 72 cooking...there are so many things I can make, and I'm just letting her sit there..So! I hope on to her, notice her inventory is packed with random ingredients, meats, fish, you name it. I quickly pull up wiki and have a looksie.

About two hours later, I now have my Sandy Mule (only 30 items viewable...but Sandy seems well traveled and the cooking guild isn't there, so less competition) loaded with all sorts of random goodies for sale when I'm afk or sleeping. I've just got to come up with a creative place to park her for good, and always leave her there. It's what I did with my old mule, inkpen hehehe.

Looking through all these recipes though...I'm ashamed of myself for being so lazy. There are SO many awesome things I can be making for myself, the patisser key item allows me to make those great group effect treats. I can make sushi since I have Raw Fish Handling.....why did I not use this to my advantage more...o-0

Hatted

Yay! Other people have more "pressing matters" to attend to yes, but that dose not mean I don't deserve a little god-damn message that says "Sorry can't come tonight." instead of hanging around hoping like a fucking moron.

Don't volunteer to help if you aren't going to be around to do so. If there is even a question as to attendance, it would be nice to know ahead of time so I'm at least prepared. And, perhaps stop volunteering if you don't really want to help. I would rather bluntly be told no than to be strung along.

It may be online friendship but there's people behind that stupid pixel character too. Feelings get hurt, people feel bad when someone lets them down. I'm one of them. I'm tired of being blown off for other people and other things, it seems I somehow invite this treatment. meh.

Anyway, yeah I'm pretty pissed off about this right now. This has happened far too often, even Austin, thinking back, feels the same way as me. I recall hearing him sigh and say "Blown off again.." more than a few times in similar game situations. =/

I woke up early to get grocery shopping done for this event so I wouldn't hold anyone up. I honestly chalk a lot of wipes to not having them set up properly.....and, after being back in a fast paced game like WoW for a few months, I realized just how lazy I had gotten in this slower paced game.

Now, the interface for ffxi is quite clunky compared to, say again, WoW. It's hard for people on a PC to react fast (I have no idea how it works out for people on a console.)

Basically, most of them look something like that. The body parts will be switched out as I level and get new equipment.

Now to begin to master the art of blink kiting. I get the gist of it, I've done more complicated things in WoW....believe me.... but ffxi's interface is a bit different and slower, so I'll have to adapt I suppose.

I have found a linkshell in the game that suites my playstyle well. We're currently doing the CoP storyline, so I'm very happy I got in on that. I be bold enough to brag in the fact that I am very reliable as far as showing up. It comes from my conditioning in WoW, I arrive early, get ready early, and I'm at the MEETING POINT or dungeon entrance AT the time the event is scheduled to start. In my old guild, if you weren' t exactly on time, the other 40 ish people online waiting in line at the time took your spot.

It's exciting to be getting storylines done. That's why I became stubborn and started again after "quitting" for close to 6 months (on and off). I do not like playing games and never completeing them.....

I noticed the leader does call people out on things. Like tardiness, and not bringing items you need (RR. hairpins), not nasty or anything, it's nice to know they are paying attention. So many out there that don't know the ass from the face, and they decide they want to lead.

The only thing that irked me about this shell so far was the conversation between two players on ls chat. I don't appreciate hearing the words pussy, cum and buttfuck when I log on. =/ I politely told them I found their conversation offensive, and asked them to stop and do it through tells, and got a smart ass answer... So I took off my shell for the night. I don't feel I need to put up with that kind of BS. People need to grow up.

yay

So, after a few more months worth of a break, finally logged in and did that STUPID Mammet fight. I got fed up, the main focus of my rage was on the constant, pathetic attempts at the Mam..whatevers...those guys who try to capture Bahamut. Pathetic, pathetic, pathetic.

So, I went back to the land of Azeroth (and if you don't know where that is you've been living under a rock....WoW... :P). Reactivated my old raiding Druid and began to level her, got her to 70, started some raids, hated the guild I was in (nice people but went through bad players like water.), move servers, and am now raiding with the "Leftovers" raiding alliance. My dream! I can raid without being in an endgame guild!!!! That's a big deal for me, as ALL of my nights were spent helping my lazy ass old guild (again only a few good people were carrying the others who were lazy asses) and preparing for my expensive, "wipe-fest" raids. I'm happy, I'm GEARING, I may actually get to see Black Temple before the next expansion!!!!

But anyway, I decided that, due to this weird...free time I have now, I could play FFXI too, since I had the urge to go back about a week or so ago. I'm taking it slow right now, so I don't end up quitting again, also the next update with the leveling down option is probably going to make my life a hell of a lot easier. People will probably be more inclined to help with missions and such.....huzzah.

Getting to my breaking point....

Got Salvage Access after taking it upon myself to attempt to get a party together.

I've been trying to get zilart mission 8 done for months now. They're dead, and for some stupid reason I keep the shells and check them daily for people....hoping maybe someday there would be more than ME on the shell.

I WANT to progress, I WANT to get my missions done, I WANT to see the storyline (more than anything actually)....but I can't get help for the life of me.

If this keeps up, no matter how much I love this game, I will get frustrated and quit.

I've been playing WoW again, mostly out of frustration with FFXI. I've been enjoying my time back this time. Almost 70, been doing dungeons, getting rep, getting attuned, never have any trouble finding a party to do these things with. Have a guild who will be attempting "Old Content" like Molten Core, Black Wing Layer...the good stuff that I've done and really enjoyed many times before.

Black Mage Artifact Get

Got the boots too but I'm too lazy to screen them right now hehe. Of course, the market for gold ingots is flooded, so I'm working on skilling up on rings. Currently, as I write this, I sit at 52.7 goldsmithing.

I'm up late because of nerves. My plan is to invest in the gil for just 1 stack of gold ingots. Sell those, and use the money I get back to continue to make another stack. I figure it will burn less of a noticeable hole in my pockets if I do it this way.

Thinking ahead, I will be planting my tree cuttings in an attempt to grow platinum nuggets. I've been saving all the platinum ores I've dug up while chocodigging and I'm itching to to get through those and on with my goldsmithing "career". Hopefully, I'll be able to make a dent in my skillups from all of the pre-planning.

As for real life land. I'm going for my medical examination for permanent residence here in Canada. (Cause' I'm a smelly, diseased American :P ) I'm nervous about it, mainly because I hate going to the hospital, and because I haven't had any sort of doctors examination since I had my appendix taken out two summers ago. =/ I'm a youngin' (23) , but I always worry about big things like this. ><><

Is it odd to say that I can't wait to NOT have the time to play this game so much anymore?

Soloing Adventures

I've noticed the caliber of parties is slowly going down the toilet. Even higher level ones. It used to be, when you got to Crawler's Nest, parties would steadily get better. However, parties there lately suck more than the dunes. Are people getting that lazy? Parties are starting to suck even with power levelers.

As for me, I'm still trekking along with Black Mage. It's a shame its getting so darn hard to find parties, as Black Mages are beasts for damage. I sometimes wish I had started playing this game much earlier (actually I wish that a lot hehe) .

Anyway, I'm at level 44 right now. Once I hit 41-ish I found it hard to find a good solo spot, as there is no way in holy hell I'm going to Castle Z. So I looked around online, and found out about a spot in in the Jungles in the Temple of Ugg. (whatever the hell it's spelled. =/) I wasn't familiar with soloing elementals coming here, so they wiped the pavement with me for a long time...I'm now fine, haven't died in awhile, save the 1 time I died due to poison and low hp. >< But we'll pretend that didn't happen, because I'm so ubber good.... o_o

Anyway, the spot seems pretty sweet so far, theres a place to zone if you get into trouble, only elementals have a lot more hp, and thus, use up more of my mp to kill them. With the anniversary band, things are moving much quicker, to my delight, hehehe. Soon I shall move on to Cape T. and goblin pets. And in a few more levels, I can get my elemental staffs, oh and I suppose I should start the quest for my Artifact Armor. Whoops! *embarassed* It will be nice to hunt for my own keys and such, as I decide to level Samurai to 75 first...which is just another beast for physical damage....too bad the defense sucks butt....

Austin (my boyfriend) is busy leveling his Mithra and has become hellbent on playing Corsair to 75, even after realizing how much bullets cost. The whole reason he switched to a female character was due to wanting to level that job. =/ "They look better in the AF." I will admit they do, and it's his game, so he should do what he wants. (Heck, I re-leveled a character, so who am I to say anything against?)

As for me, I will level Corsair someday, but for now, my focus is on my mage jobs. I <3 Mage. :)

Monies!

Did some of the past quests today. Great stuff to be had from the Sandy (S) ones, have a deathstone and angelstone to sell now, which is great as I neeeeeds gillls. My goal to do most/all quests in the game is well underway. Zinc can be made to brass, which sells nice, bone chips and femurs go to the vendor or sold on the AH depending on price....

The Gold ore I've been digging up is good for getting my Goldsmithing leveled up some more....very, very slowly. ><

grrrr

So to block out some of my the major irritations in my life right now *coughs* 18 year old younger sister called to tell me she's pregnant *coughs* I've decided to play even more of the game.

My poor eyes.... they're going bad on me...at this rate I'll probably need glasses soon ><

Star Necklace is mine now! They have enough for Salvage and things like that that, but they're still working on the numbers for dynamis. We'll see we'll see ^^ I'm in no big rush, I'm still trying to get my missions all complete for my country >< .

I'm not a fan of linkshell where its "Fuck this." Compared to the really intricate strategies of WoW, I found it to be almost boring compared. Hopefully places like Sky and Sea and such are better. ><><

I've even been searching around other servers forums for some nice sounding shells, if I find one where people aren't overly petty, nasty (apparently they yelled at a friend of mine for messing up a Skillchain the other day...honestly, once I heard that, I made my decision to find a shell that was not like that.) I never thought I would miss my old WoW guild..><><

Anyway, since I've been discouraged lately (I don't want my game to be ruined by dreading endgame events.) , I log on from time to time to farm, I'm working on packing my mule with consumables, choco racing items, food, choco medicine, choco feed, low level armor, etc. I can't wait until I can make some high level armor and sell that in Rolanmart outside of Jeuno. My goal? To be able to make the majority of my money from mules. I hate AH fees. ><
Last night I spent a lot of time farming honey for Speed Apples. I went logging in Caedevra (sp?) Mire, but I think theres that warp botting going on there....I noticed a lot of logging points suddenly disappear with no one around... will report them if I find that out when I go try again today. Dogwood logs are my focus, as I can make them into yogurt. ( for more choco apples lol)

Time to switch to windowed mode...even though it kills my eyes if I look at it too long. I still refuse to download mods of any kind for this game. :)

finally ><

I finally hit 75 today. None of my friends are really on anymore so I figured I could start over fresh somewhere else and make new friends...sounds weird, but I've already developed a lot of biases toward a lot of people on my server. (like who are the resident assholes, etc.) Also, I didn't really intend to start on Diabolos (lol I liked the name Leviathan and Odin, etc more hehe), I only did so because a friend, who stopped playing like.. a month after I started, played on that server. It's somewhat frustrating to start somewhere and expect to buddy around and find the person leaves....

I've been snooping around during prime time on an open content id to see what the populations are like on certain servers. Doing my own research...

But of course, before I go through some rash decisions, I'll see about joining some different Linkshells (no ones ever really on my current one during the day when I'm normally hanging around). I don't know....meh.... The only problem is, again, the biases (I know its bad but still you hear the local gossip a lot) Linkshells on that server (and many others...) are really petty and theres tons of drama. Mainly the Endgame ones. Which I will be getting into sometime in the near future.

I think I'm one of the few that thinks a change is refreshing. *shrugs* That and its only like $12 or something really reasonable. ehhh....

*blahblahblah*

More rants meh

Sometimes I wish I could shove my foot up the worlds ass...

I'm getting very sick of people insisting I get that stupid O. Kote. The more I hear it, the more stubborn I become, and the more I don't want to camp that NM that drops it. I'm also quite sick of all the know-it-all-ism's. So you have 7 level 75's....that doesn't mean you can play. Having a few 75's doesn't make up for the lack of skill when someone who "knows everything" screws up something a new player would find simple.... I very much enjoy watching this happen. There's also an overabundance of jerks lately. More that usual. I had to blacklist a few people this week, one being in campaign, just kept insulting everyone and flapping their yap when absolutely no one was answering. You would think the fact that there wasn't anyone dignifying him with an answer, that perhaps they would think "gee, no ones respond..." and stop...but no.

Black Mage is now level 39 after soloing the majority of the way. I only got into one...very...mediocre party with it so far. Stupidity seems to run rampant in this game.... A lot of the game is common sense, but this escapes people....o_o But again, I digress. <del>(learn to #$!@%^@ play! *fumes*)</del>

I've been busy ^^

A lot has gone on lately. I've gotten pretty far into the Zilart Missions tagging along with a friends linkshell. Not to "Sky" yet, but I'm getting close. Also attained Rank 7 earlier last week, after being persistent as hell about getting people to go. It worked out way better than I had expected. lol I usually can't get anyone to come. Chupacabra helped me get my Jody's Acid for the next mission in Aht Urgahn (yes I'm a slacker. ) Now I have to fight an NM. ><
(Some Screenies of my adventures are posted throughout this entry. >< ) Along with all of my Mission adventures, I've been doing a lot of quests, many of them being interesting. I don't know why most people decide to bypass most of the games quest, it really makes it more enjoyable and interesting if you do them. But that's just me I guess..>< Along with all of this I've been doing numerous quests, just to make my gaming experience more fun, and it is working. I've even almost got all of the Mannequin parts ^^
In leveling news, I've gotten Black Mage to 31 (almost 32) solo. Goblin Pets helped a lot with this, but they killed me muchly.... I'm even doing Campaigns with it right now.....it's less stressful to me than soling and dying so much. >< When I hit 35, I'm going to start flagging for parties. (I'm trying to avoid Garliage Citadel as much as I can lol I hate that place at level 30, if I get to 35, I'm less likely to have to party there.) Paladin is now 19, after a leveling session with chup and zuriel.

Oh and we now have a PSP here. :) Now I can play Final Fantasy Tactics while healing or waiting around. :)

Typing in my boredom

So some more emergency maint. today. Not a huge deal as I was kind of expecting it. You can't expect the poor employees who run this thing NOT to have a few kinks to work out. People who complain about downtime and such, I say to you:

"You go out, you learn how to program, you design and program a game as intricate as this one and you try to upkeep it."

Only then can you really, truly, be allowed to bitch and moan. Otherwise...well shut the hell up. =/
This game doesn't nearly have as much downtime as games like WoW so people should be happy about that. *has memories of her server being offline for three whole days out of nowhere*

So anyway. Zuriel got home from work for lunch and I gave him the idea of us doing some more Nation Rank missions tonight. Hopefully that will work out. Hell, I'm willing to even trying them duo, it would be fun methinks. Lately, I find myself turning into an anal stickler worrying about numbers and dying/loosing xp. Today I thought..."Why?" Since when have I become some anal player who's afraid to try something just for the hell of it?
After this I ran around Sandy catching up on some quests. I'm not in Sandy very much, and I happened to log out there..so yeah... Had some fun running around gathering items and such.

I also got to listen to Zuriel rant for hours and hours about dune parties. Heheh..... Honestly, its powerleveling and spoon feeding people levels here, when you should be learning your job, that makes bad players. This is why I don't powerlevel anymore. Sure, fast xp is great, but hell, I even found myself clueless when I hit the 40's for the first time. I started the game late and the majority of my parties had plers.... As a white mage, it annoyed me because I felt it was pointless for me to be there. At level 40-ish I found myself learning my job for the first time....I thought to myself..."This isn't right...I should know this." It irritated me and I knew it was because of the power leveling. Honestly, I wont be modest, I catch on quick and I learn fast, so I was fine. Now I make it a point to solo/duo etc with each new job I play, and experiment with the abilities. I actually don't like parties with power levelers. Especially since the time on my other character, a 60 whm at the time, watching as the parties red mage brought a75 white mage with them to power level. I was flipping mad, it's rude to me, especially at the level, to bring a healer along when HELLO I'M HERE! They didn't stop when they saw I was healing either...it pissed me off and made me bored. Anyway, yeah I don't like power leveling.

So, I found my Mannequin Legs for much, much cheaper than Zuriel. Who promptly mumbled for me to shove them down my throat. (jokingly, I love him ♥ hehe) I'll be doing bcnms for the rest of the body parts shortly.

Now off to tidy up the house and such while I wait for maintenance to be over.

Operation Sub Job (s)

Current Job levels as of now. I worked my butt off getting Warrior and Thief to 37 (for Samurai Sub Jobs) this past week. Dancer was at 14 earlier this week and I took it to level 22 in a small amount of time, thanks to a friend who Zuriel and I triode with in the dunes. Ninja was taken to 21 this past weekend, simply by soloing. I can't stand low level parties...I avoid them if I can. It's been a pretty productive few days.
I'll post more on my ventures as I go. :)

Zuriels spent the last few days trying to find Mannequin feet to complete his pet project. He's obsessed with getting that Mannequin lol. I remember, though I only started a year and a half ago, people were much nicer... Then again I was new, and did not know as many players yet, which is probably why.

The past week, I've spent some time in the dunes leveling various jobs. (I'm going on a sub-job leveling spree, I want to make myself more versatile.) The first party, I was the Paladin. Three new players and two that have played for at least a little while. One was a healer and refused to sit to rest mp...the other was having huge lag issues. (I hate that.) One of the new players insisted on talking to me, "I'm going to make you lol ", among other somewhat creepy comments about uhm...female characters. oO For two hours of partying....I got about 1k xp. OK. Yeah, that's the dunes for you, I expect that of party there. I only go in hopes that I'll find the occasional decent party and get some xp.

The next time I go as Ninja. None of the members wants to pull, so I start pulling. We lose a member in between our pathetic kills. We get a Thief. They pull, do ok, then for some reason start to aggro Goblin Bounty Hunters. It happens, but uhm....I don't ever recall, even at the start of the game, aggroing during pulling THAT much. =/ Anyway, we move camp. Lose another member, another leaves, and the Thief logs off without saying anything.

Coming to my rant. I HATE when people do that. I HATE HATE HATE when people don't have the courage to just say "Look, I'm done." This person played before and had higher levels. At no point in the game is it considered OK to just log off during a party. I've had a healer do this in a party before, and I still remember the name. (probably because the characters name was the same name as my actual boyfriend. :P) I remember people who screw the parties I'm in over. I steer clear of parties with these people in them. If they do it once, they'll do it again. It's just in very bad taste to do that and I myself don't...so yeah. (minus the time my keyboard freaked out on me and I had to force d/c on purpose to try to fix it...I felt so bad. I couldn't even type to them to tell them. My words came out as gibberish...I fried another wireless keyboard that day lol.)

So yeah my little party Do's and Don't list.
-Don't get into a party when you only have...say...45 minutes to play. It's just common sense. It sometimes takes that amount of time just to get to a camp.
-Do bring food. I find even in Valkrum it's very helpful. I'm not talking Squid Sushi or anything, especially for the dunes, but grilled hare is very cheap, lasts for a few hours (as long as you don't die.) and gives you a nice stat boost. There are some great low level food recipes that can help get your through the dunes. No excuses that "I don't have money." grilled hare is dirt cheap to make, and is about 400-500 gil on the AH. I honestly recommend leveling cooking a bit to make these goodies for yourself. It comes in handy in a pinch. Mages bring pies or at least cookies for mp restoration. I've started to carry cookies on me when I'm in low level parties. Just in case a mage doesn't have them.... Orange Juices are great for mp restoration and cap out at level 12 cooking...you can buy the saruta oranges in windy for quite cheap and farm the water crystals. Bring a stack or two of oranges with you, along with the crystals and synth them on the go if need be. (just not when you're supposed to be...say...healing...><)
-Don't come naked. I cringe when I see this. It shows you don't care at all, and it does help to have some defense. I'm not talking about double astral rings (kind of overrated...I have one and it isn't all that impressive.) but at least have gear for your level. I've seen many a party where someone like the healer comes with absolutely nothing on. At dunes level you can have some +mind and +intellect gear...it's not THAT expensive USE it. There are also some GREAT low level items you can get for leveling these jobs, some from NM's other from quests. Gil might be an issue at low levels but just do quests. Many have gil rewards, others, even better, have equipment. You can gear your low level character up completely on quests if you really wanted to.
-Don't fight with other party members. Seriously. So many times I'm in a party and suggest something or mention something and get knocked back by the guy who is like "I know more than you because I have 7 level 75's." This is the same guy that will probably screw up and pull three gobs or log out halfway through the party because it's not going well. I know the type. I'm a veteran of a game called World of Warcraft....I know how irritating "know it alls who talk out of their ass" can be. >< Having a 75 does not make you a massive pool of knowledge. You can still be a bad player. =/ Don't give these people the satisfaction of a fight. Generally they've got a chip on their shoulders and want to piss you off to vindicate themselves.... Just ignore them.
-Don't get discouraged. The games tricky to learn. I can still remember being in Valkrum the first time on my black mage overnuking and doing everything wrong. lol It's a learning experience, and it's supposed to be fun I think a lot of the long time players forget this. If you screw up, and you will, just shrug it off and don't let it get to you.
-Do use the Auto Translate function. While waiting for a party why not go through and view some of the phrases it can translate. It helps when communicating with non-English speaking players. This game is distributed all over the world, don't assume everyone is going to know English. If you are party leader, use it to give directions at all times. Don't assume everyone can understand you.
-Don't talk about members in party chat. It's just mean. Especially when you're talking about another player who you know does not speak your language. It's cruel and you never know how much English a player can understand. (The Japanese, if I'm not mistaken, have to take two years of English by default in school...so yeah....keep that in mind if you are one to do this kind of thing. Same goes with any other language really, I tend to see the most animosity between the English and Japanese...) If you've had it done to you, ignore it, there are jerks all around the world, that doesn't make an entire group of people jerks. Remember that. You wouldn't want it done to you, so don't do it yourself.

I could go on and on all night but I think thats it for now. :P I'm very quiet in parties since I don't like to start stupid debates over stats and equipment. (If one more person tells me I need an o-kote I'll tear their face off......>< I r violent. :P (joking by the way) I'm still discovering what is best for me.

The new update comes out today. I'm still waiting for it to download....My boyfriends downloaded faster, so he's in game while I'm sitting here pouting away. :)

new job

Since I'm going to hit 75 Samurai very shortly, I was considering where to go from there. I like Samurai, I just want to level other jobs and find the one I like most. :) I've been flip-flopping my choices in my head for days nows.... I would like to level Paladin, the times that I have played a tank job, I really liked it. I would love to level Bard, I leveled it a bit on another character and found its easy to get parties with, I like being support, and I've recently found that I really like pulling. Not to mention I'm not half bad at it. I've been called on to pull a lot with my Sam...and ew....I hate pulling with a bow instead of a crossbow. >< Black mage has been a pet side job of mine for a month or two (I level it when I don't feel like partying that day.) , it's fun, I don't mind the idea of having to solo once I hit higher levels and such.... Corsair seems kind of interesting to play. :) I like the idea of using a gun! :)

So, yes, I'm at a loss of what to pick after this. >< Meh....

Lots and lots of stuff

....grrr....had a whole entry that blogger ate....

To sum it up, since I'm not rewriting all of that again. Now I'm forced to do campaign since it's a bit too late for a party.

I'm also getting somewhat lonely. Everyone that I am close to in-game....minus the boyfriend....is always busy and off doing their own thing. I tend to get one word replies from people who are further occupied, but they are occupied basically all the friggin time. I'm getting discouraged a bit. That and everyones in different shells and quite happy with them.
I suppose I should just go back to the game thing I did with Austin. Traveling as "the pair" and doing our own thing alone. This is what happens with me most of the time, people get caught up in their own thing (and rightfully so) while I tend to get left in the dust. I guess I just don't make that much of an impression on people. ><

Anway, back to campaign, then bed.

Turban ^_^

So after a bout of fishing, I got bored and decided to use some of my 47,000 imperial standing points to finally get my Walahra Turban. I plan on making her a Super-Mule, will get her the mog locker and fill her mog house with storage stuff. Then I can get rid of one of my crappier mules and only have her. :) It will be nice! Above is a screen from when Zuriel and I were exploring Attohwa Chasm. Oh yeah, first image of my Samurai Artifact Set. :3
I've had it for months already, and for some reason, never took a snapshot lol. We were in the middle of climbing this really narrow cliff to the top, where some sort of altar thing was.

Goldsmithing is level 50, and stalled until I get some more gil. Fishing on Kelvena is 17 already. I'm making some nice profits off of yellow globes and tiger cod. Cooking on my mule is at 69, I'm working in 70....I just need to clear out some more space. Soon it will be time to take a trip to Selbina to turn in items for fame. ><><

I've been Campaigning my brains out lately, mainly because I'm lazy and don't feel like waiting around for a party. Oh, and the triple Besieged yesterday helped out xp wise too. :P

Next goal is to hurry up and beat Maat, then to get my ass to 75, and start venturing into another job. :3 Still not sure what job it will be yet. >< Oh yeah, and gil, I could use some of that now....goldsmithing is hell right now...I'm on gold.....expensive and sells at a loss. :(

rushy rush

My cooking mule is now at 68 cooking ^^. This means I can HQ tons of food and put some money back in my dwindling pockets. Kelvena is at 48 goldsmithing and I think I will put the leveling on hold until I stock up on a few 100k of gil and the smithing glasses. Guild turn ins here I come! This will give me an ample amount of time to dig up some gold coins chocobo digging in the meantime. I like making profit. :)

Now to my other issue...if you want to call it that. I have a friend in-game that has an endgame shell that he joined a few months ago. He keeps urging my boyfriend and me to get leveled so we can join and start doing endgame. However, I'm in no rush to run out and join one of these shells as soon as I hit 75. I did the whole endgame thing is World of Warcraft, I did the drama, I did the dungeons until my eyes bled. (I was starting to see Hakkar in my freaking sleep >< ) And by drama, I mean A LOT of drama. >< I know FFXI tends to not be as .... uhm .... strict as WoW guilds make it, but I know the Linkshells are run similar. Now to explain myself a bit more.

1. When I start working again, I probably wont be on as much. I like to putz around in-game, crafting, soloing for beastmen seals, farming (yes I don't mind it.) , doing random quests and missions, etc. If I don't have much time to myself when I'm home, it means I will just be going to my "endgame shell" to do events...and nothing else. Now, in WoW it was different, as I had hit 60, and seen pretty much everything. I didn't feel I needed to explore anything else, so I did endgame. FFXI... well, there are still some places I have yet to visit, after playing for a year and a half. I don't want to log on and HAVE to go to a LS event, when I might feel like leveling one of the other zillion jobs I have yet to level.

2. Drama. I know there is a lot in pretty much any endgame shell. I don't think people understand completely when I tell them, "I've done the whole endgame thing in another game...I know how people get in these things..." It's the reason I stopped playing WoW. Drama. I have never seen people bicker so much over the STUPIDEST things like I did in that game. I've encountered some players in FFXI who remind me of these type of people, and of course, the ones I did talk to are in endgame shells. I know there is A LOT of drama going on nowadays as well. I don't feel the need to annoy myself with it.

I can tell if I hurry and join the first endgame shell I find, I will end up burning myself out in a few months and quitting. I did it once, I will do it again, I know myself too well. :)

So yeah, even when I hit 75 I will probably wait to join endgame stuff. I want to experience the game for myself before I commit to a group effort. I believe in giving all or nothing so yeah....=/

That and I don't like being rushed... :P

Digging Rank and Thief

So as far as chocobo digging ranking, I figured out that I am classified as "Artisan", at least, according to the zone loading time before being able to dig. It will be nice to hit the next rank and actually have a chance at pulling up elemental ores.

As far as goldsmithing, it is slowly seeping away at my gil. >< I took more time to farm to compensate, stealing beastcoins and selling the ingots I make out of them and such. Slowly, but surely, my gil is starting to recover. I just wish people would stop undercutting the Sorcerers Ring so much...it went from 1 mil to 750k =/ I'm still trying to sell the one I got as a drop in "Treasures and Tribulations" (bcnm 60)

Solo leveling Thief is great, though a bit expensive due to the costs of bloody bolts. :) Working on getting Thief to 31 today...possibly 32 if I get really lucky. It's days like this I get tempted to go back to WoW. I know I'm pretty cut-throat and "no-nonsense" due, in part, to that game. But I believe in punctuality and organization, which you really need to succeed in a higher end LS and events. I realize that most comments toward me are innocent, and supposedly jokes, but it gets old after awhile. I try to be nice, I try to help people learn how to make gil, no one tends to listen to my advice, and that's fine, I tried. I get made fun of....for some reason, for saving my gils to buy expensive equipment and such....since when it pre-planning and working toward a goal...funny or a reason to be vindictive?

And again, I enjoy events and LS's that are run on a schedule, I enjoy organization, I enjoy getting things done without fuss. I enjoy WINNING. I hate wiping due to rushing or poor planning. It's a waste of time, and despite the fact that people seem to enjoy grinding the fact that I have tons of free time, my time is valuable! Just because I can sit and play for most of the day, doesn't mean my time isn't worth anything. It's things like that make me want to cry. I'm depressive enough without other people making it worse...which is why I sometimes I just want to stop playing and go back to WoW, a game where you can be a hermit and still play. :( I love FFXI, I don't love being made to feel bad. I know I'm overreacting most of the time, but fuck....
I can only hear these comments so many times before I feel like they mean something by it.

Perhaps I should distance myself or something...or start on another server...or something like that....

Jello

Did the BCNM "Royal Jelly" last night with Zuriel and Chupacabra. :) I felt bad for making poor Chup worry, as he had never done it before. It's becoming quite expensive, but I find I'm making lots of money when I farm silver/mythril beastcoins. My favorite place for this is Zi'Tah, because at night, the bat's pop and drop beast blood, which vendors for over 500gil per blood. (most of the bats drop 1-2 bloods so they stack fast) ^^

My next project is to get thief leveled to at least 37 (going to try for 40...and higher if I like it) so I can farm a bit better. (at least get it started...as my thf is only level 21)

Maintenance today, so it looks like I'm doing something else whether I like it or not :) Need clean clothes...so I suppose I'll venture down to the laundry room shortly to start that.

Welcome back

I'm back, in a new house, and back to FFXI. Still working on getting that damned Temple of Ugga-whatever coffer... I have the key... I just need the coffer...which appears to be locked behind two doors, that require two different keys, one of which you have to kill level 61-67 Tonberry's for. Meh....stupid little lizard men and their Throat Stab. Though I would still die laughing if they named a Tonberry Notorious Monster "Stabby Mc Stabbington" like Bast suggested....I was tired, goofy, and couldn't stop laughing when I read that. *sighs* Someday I will get my full Samurai Artifact Gear...someday..... Not that it's even very useful now. But it looks kickass...so I want it.

So, one more level and I get to shell out the 300,000 + gil to buy a Hauby. I find them horribly icky looking, but it's a good piece of equipment...so I'll deal.

Oh, I did my first few Assaults about two weeks ago. They sort of remind me of Battlegrounds in World of Warcraft...minus the screaming in aggravation every 5 seconds. I love these ores since they sell for 50k a pop on my server. ^^ I also had a pretty productive day as far as digging goes. (And it's not over yet, still got my next ground to try in a few hours.) I got a lot of elm, ebony, rosewood, and oak logs in Wajoam Woodlands, along with an Adaman ore. I really love my green choco and her burrow ability. GreenOlive (my choco), is one of the only reasons I still maintain a large amount of gil (not as much as I used to have) while leveling a craft as expensive as goldsmithing.

Aht Urgahn Missions

Did a few more missions for the ToAU storyline. It's starting to get interesting, and that puppetmaster girl is just cute. I love her outfit! ^^
After waiting around for parties for hours today, I teamed up with a guy from my Linkshell and we duo ed to level 50. (three very painful hours.... though at least I had someone to talk to.) So, I handed in all of Kelvenas 50 cap items, so she's good until level 54....then comes the 55 cap. I'm almost caught up to my old character! :)

Goldsmithing is now at level 31. It's going slow due to the expense, but I'm trekking along. My cooking mule is almost to level 40....she's now on hold until I can dump all the jack o' lanterns I made to get her to level 38. At least they sell for a profit, even with buying the material to make them. I think, when I get enough points accumulated to get the key item from the guild, I'll go with noodle kneading. I noticed that the sushi situation on my server is messed up. The only way to make any sort of profit off of your sushi, is to hq it, or farm most of your material. I'm fine with growing my own tarutaru rice, but it gets old when you have to farm ALL your items. I noticed that you can make spaghetti for a decent profit, which is why I'll probably go with noodle kneading. But first thing is first, I have to get rid of all those jacks! lol I'll probably bazzar in Selbina, in hopes of dumping them.

Other than that, tomorrow I intend to party up and get a level or two. Hopefully I wont be too tired out when I get back from jogging and shopping.....stupid groceries...=/ I'm turning into an old lady who constantly needs naps...

Shadow Lord / Rank 6 and prommy's! O_O

I've been a rather busy bee the last few weeks. :)
Kelvena is now a 49 (soon to be 50) Samurai. Took my time for a bit to start the long, and VERY expensive craft that is Goldsmithing. (my poor pocketbook ><) It is now at level 30, and my cooking mule is now level 34 cooking. I will begin hunting my Artifact Armor soon, and hopefully, with some help from nice people, I'll be wearing a full AF set in two weeks or so. :) A few days ago, I finally achieved rank 6 with Bastok. The Shadowlord fight so epic, like the classic Final Fantasy Final Boss fights (though hes not the "Final Boss" by any means). Screens are below.
After that lovely event, I went to Norg, to start "Rise of the Zilart". *squees*
The archangel Tarutaru is just too precious. :P I want that little hat! So yeah, they did a good job at tying the two storylines together. Any other game, and it would have come off as being a cop-out, but it worked here. :)

Followed by all this, I've gotten my second promyvian done, only Mea to go! Then I get to see Lufaise Meadows for the first time. I hear its awfully pretty! The prommy bosses aren't too difficult if you are organized about it. The Holla boss wiped the floor with us our first try, then we raised and rested, tried again, and we hardly lost any hp...no deaths, no one even went into the red. I love prommy's, if I could, I would do them exclusively, they are so dark and creepy.

I noticed a lot of "Real World" propaganda has been seeping into this game...I've come across some of the most ignorant players ever lately. Most of them making really racist/hateful comments... Like the douche in Zuriels party a few days ago, who said "I hate Iraq" and other really inappropriate comments. Zuriel replied...and I love this comment... "It's only the cradle of civilization...." along with a lot of "You're an ignorant/intolerant asshat" replies to his further rant. i wish people would keep things like that to themselves...really...

Oh, and in between all of this, I've been...reading, yes, reading again! Got myself a brand new book today, since I'm almost finished with what I'm currently reading. Finally got my hands on a copy of "The Pillow Book", a collection of entries written by a lady in waiting to the Japanese empress in the 900's. I saw excerpts in my high school english book, that I really enjoyed, but I could never find the book until now. After I'm done reading "The Last Boylen" again, I'll be moving on to that one. (I like history. Can you tell?) After that, I will attempt "The Epic of Gilgamesh" ...cause it sounds pretty interesting...and is one of, if not the first, written story in history.

Uhm...yeah, that's about it for now. I'm awaiting Wings of the Goddess in Nov. ^^ I can't wait to try out Dancer.

<link rel='alternate' type='text/html' href='http://kelvena.blogspot.com/2007/10/shadow-lord-rank-6-and-prommys-oo.html' title='Shadow Lord / Rank 6 and prommy's! I passed on the bounding boots since I was just happy to get my hairpin :) Plus they were nice enough to volunteer to help me camp, which was great!

I finally got around to opening summoner on Kelvena (though I don't intend to play it anytime soon). Just a little screen shot of the cut scene you receive, along with Bastien and his a weird antics. lol "This is America! We speak Spanish here!"
Awww poor froggies! I've been running around Aht Urgahn and other cities, gathering up quests to work on, and this is one of my personal favorites. It had a pretty elaborate Cut Scene, featuring the Frog Men! :)

Now, on to gameplay. Samurai is now level 43. I've slowed my leveling down to regain some of the lost gil after purchasing the Jujitsu Gi. (I just had to have that snazzy white Gi, with the accuracy bonus....) Sure, I guess I could have camped the NM that drops it...but I would rather just farm for the money to buy it, rather than sit in one spot for who knows how many hours, with no garuntee of a drop. I learned my lesson on the Monster Signa.

Kelvenas fishing level is slowly rising, and I'm reeling in tons of carp for the Lu Shang turn ins. I neglected that on my previous character...I wont with this one. I really want to have that rod! I enjoy fishing immensely, theres no competition (like in farming, NM camping, etc) you get to move around to different spots...and its pretty much all profit. I like profit. :) It will give me a good incentive to watch the two seasons of "The X-files" I have playlisted. :)

Chocobo digging is getting better lately. Not as great as it was about three weeks ago, but I'm not turning up with "you dig and dig and find nothing." either.

new start

Moved over to blooger, since it's like...prettier or something.

I've switched my main to Kelvena, and it's staying that way. My sam/war is now 42 and I'm going to attempt at my Artifact Weapon tomorrow. (I hope.) I'll just be concentrating on Samurai for now, then after that, perhaps I will level Paladin or Ninja.

Chocodigging has been kind of "meh" lately. I keep going during JP prime times, and coming up with mostly...well...junk. So, I'm starting to dig as soon as I log on, early in the day, during the sorta of "transition" time. English players are mostly at work/school and JP players are mostly sleeping.

I'm psychotic and re-leveling fishing on Kelvena, since I did enjoy doing it, and dont feel like logging on to Sylmeria to do so all the time.

I'll post screens and updates soon.
